Awards a Congressional Gold Medal to the Artemis II astronauts.
The problem
The Artemis II mission represents a significant achievement in human spaceflight. Congress recognizes outstanding service through gold medals to honor accomplishments.
The proposal
Issues a Congressional Gold Medal to honor the Artemis II astronauts for their contributions to space exploration and American achievement.
The impact
Artemis II astronauts receive formal recognition. The public gains awareness of space program achievements. NASA receives congressional acknowledgment.
Recognizes astronauts' bravery and dedication to advancing human spaceflight. Congressional Gold Medals celebrate exceptional service to the nation. This honors the Artemis II mission's importance.
Medal ceremonies increase media attention to space exploration. Public engagement with NASA programs may grow. This can inspire future scientists and engineers.
Congressional Gold Medals are symbolic honors with minimal fiscal impact. No ongoing spending required after medal production. Provides recognition without significant budget commitment.
Highlights U.S. commitment to space exploration goals. Demonstrates national investment in science and technology. Strengthens America's position in space activities.
Gold medals provide no direct benefit to space program funding or operations. Does not address funding gaps in NASA programs. May distract from substantive space policy debates.
Some question whether individual astronauts or entire teams deserve focus. Mission success involves thousands of workers. Medal to select few may overlook collective effort.
Does not establish space exploration priorities or funding levels. Does not change how NASA operates. Ceremonial without producing measurable outcomes.

Money from people who work there, not from the company. Not tied to this bill.
Itemized individual contributions via FEC, grouped by the employer each contributor self-reported. Companies and unions cannot contribute to federal candidates from their treasuries, so these totals are money from people who work at an employer — never from the organization itself. They are campaign contributions covering a full election cycle and are not connected to this bill.
