Restricts the military from deploying troops within U.S. cities and streets.
The problem
Concerns exist about potential military deployment for domestic law enforcement or civil unrest situations, raising questions about separation of military and civilian authority.
The proposal
The bill would establish legal restrictions preventing active-duty military troops from being deployed in American streets and cities for domestic operations.
The impact
Affects military command authority, federal emergency response capabilities, and domestic security procedures during crises or civil unrest situations.
Keeps the military separate from domestic law enforcement. This follows a long American tradition of limiting military power within the country. Helps prevent concentration of power.
Creates legal boundaries for when military can act domestically. Reduces risk of military commanders making civilian law enforcement decisions. Provides clear rules about military authority.
Reinforces existing law limiting military involvement in domestic affairs. Protects constitutional separation between military and civilian power. Clarifies roles and responsibilities.
Gives clear legal certainty about when military deployment cannot occur. Helps state and local authorities plan emergency responses. Removes ambiguity about military's domestic role.
Could delay military assistance during major disasters or attacks. Federal response options become more limited. May make catastrophic events harder to manage quickly.
Removes tools available to federal government during crises. May prevent rapid military coordination in emergencies. Could handcuff decision-makers in severe situations.
Major hurricanes, earthquakes, or terrorist attacks might need military resources. Bill could slow humanitarian aid delivery. National Guard activation procedures might become unclear.
Unclear how bill would prevent deployments during extreme emergencies. May create legal conflicts with existing emergency authorities. Could lead to court battles during crisis moments.

No donor data found for current cycle
Itemized individual contributions via FEC, grouped by the employer each contributor self-reported. Companies and unions cannot contribute to federal candidates from their treasuries, so these totals are money from people who work at an employer — never from the organization itself. They are campaign contributions covering a full election cycle and are not connected to this bill.
