Allows veterans to use military border patrol training for Border Patrol jobs.
The problem
Veterans with border security training may not get credit for their military experience when applying to Border Patrol positions, wasting their skills.
The proposal
Creates a training program allowing veterans to transfer military border patrol experience toward Border Patrol employment qualifications and hiring.
The impact
Veterans gain clearer paths to Border Patrol careers. Border Patrol gains experienced workers. Taxpayers may fund new training programs.
Veterans already trained in border security can move directly into Border Patrol work. This saves money on training and puts experienced people to work faster.
Gives veterans a clear career path after military service. More job opportunities mean better financial security for veterans and their families.
Border Patrol gets workers who already understand military procedures and discipline. This could improve hiring quality and security operations.
Using existing veteran training reduces government spending on new training programs. Border Patrol saves money while filling positions.
The bill doesn't explain how much it costs or where funding comes from. Taxpayers may end up paying for new programs without knowing the price.
No official summary exists and few specifics are public yet. It's hard to evaluate if the plan actually works without more information.
Changing hiring standards might affect equal opportunity or merit-based selection. Some qualified non-veterans could face disadvantages in Border Patrol hiring.
Military border training differs from Border Patrol work. Veterans may still need additional training, limiting the actual benefit of credit transfer.

Money from people who work there, not from the company. Not tied to this bill.
Itemized individual contributions via FEC, grouped by the employer each contributor self-reported. Companies and unions cannot contribute to federal candidates from their treasuries, so these totals are money from people who work at an employer — never from the organization itself. They are campaign contributions covering a full election cycle and are not connected to this bill.
